As Omipa continues to expand its global network, strengthening local partnerships remains a key priority to better support customers in every market.
In China, this commitment is represented by Mr. Du Guang of Beijing Ivitech Co, Ltd., a trusted partner with solid experience in the plastics industry and a deep understanding of the local market dynamics.
Through his technical background and close connection with customers, Mr. Du Guang plays a crucial role in bridging Omipa’s extrusion technologies with the specific needs of Chinese converters — ensuring not only effective communication, but also long-term value and reliable support.
On the occasion of Chinaplas 2026, where Omipa will be present together with Mr. Du Guang, we had the opportunity to ask him a few questions about his experience, the Chinese market, and the opportunities ahead.
Interview with Mr. Du Guang
1. How did you first get to know Omipa, and how did you become part of the Omipa team?
My journey with Omipa began, fittingly enough, at Chinaplas—the heartbeat of our industry where innovations come alive and connections spark. As the exclusive agent of some outstanding Italian equipment manufacturers in China, I got to know Omipa through mutual friends.
I was deeply impressed by their advanced technologies for high-quality sheet and hollow profile extrusion.
Omipa, a family-owned company based in northern Italy with decades of leadership in complete extrusion and co-extrusion lines, represents the pinnacle of reliability, innovation, and performance. It matched my ownstandards for quality and reliability.
What began as professional respect deepened into partnership. When the opportunity came to formally represent Omipa in China, it felt less like a business decision and more like the natural next chapter of a story that had already begun.
2. From your point of view, what are the main opportunities and challenges of the Chinese market for extrusion technologies today?
The opportunities are tremendous, driven by the strong push toward sustainability and the circular economy for sophisticated packaging, electronic display panels, optical sheets, construction applications, renewable energy infrastructure and so forth.
Government policies are ambitious — China aims to significantly increase recycled plastics usage, with targets reaching millions of tonnes by 2030. These are precisely the engineering puzzles Omipa has spent decades solving.
The main challenges lie in bridging the gap between ambition and execution. Many producers still face difficulties achieving consistent high-quality output, more so from recycled materials — issues like material variability, contamination, and the need for precise process control.
There is also pressure to reduce energy consumption and meet stricter environmental standards, while staying cost-competitive.
Technologies that excel at handling recycled content with minimal waste and maximum reliability, like those from Omipa, are exactly what the market needs to overcome these hurdles and turn sustainability goals into profitable reality.
From a relationship standpoint, being physically closer builds deeper trust and long-term partnerships. We can offer hands-on training, regular on-site visits, and truly tailored solutions that understand the specific needs of Chinese manufacturers. It transforms the dynamic from a distant supplier into a reliable local partner who grows alongside the customer.
3. How will Omipa’s permanent presence in China benefit customers in the region, both from a commercial and a relationship standpoint?
The best production line is the one that keeps running efficiently, economically and eco-friendly to make top quality product. Omipa’s permanent Chin presence transforms what that means for our customers.
Commercially, proximity changes everything. It means much faster response times for inquiries, spare parts, technical support, and after-sales service. The relationship dimension matters even more.
Chinese business culture values guanxi—not superficial networking, but genuine human connection built through shared problem-solving. The local presence will help foster embedded partnership.
Government support amplifies these benefits significantly. China’s policies increasingly favor high-end manufacturing equipment imports and technology partnerships—particularly those supporting green transformation and Industry4.0 upgrading.
Omipa’s presence aligns beautifully with initiatives like:
- Made in China 2025 quality upgrade objectives;
- Carbon neutrality infrastructure investments;
- Advanced manufacturing tax incentives and import duty considerations for environmentally beneficial technologies;
- Regional industrial cluster development programs where our technology enables local supply chain strengthening.
Ultimately, Omipa’s commitment shows they are invested in the Chinese market for the long term, which gives our customers confidence and a real competitive edge.
